De Zwarte Boer

We were here on a sunny Sunday afternoon. The outdoor seating was packed. Lunch was good, but service was slow. Apparently they could not handle the amount of visitors. We never received or drinks. The next day we went back and it was very quiet on Monday morning. This time we did get drinks and cake. The Apple cake we good but not great. But an amazing location and great place for lunch of it is not too busy

Been to the restaurant for lunch here. Nice traditional atmosphere. Coffee was pretty good. Lunch menu offerings were not really my favourites but I was able to make a choice: focaccia pulled pork. Taste was just OK but had expected it to be warm meat, yet it was cold. Lots of flies here inside that made it a bit unpleasant.

Sunday lunch with 97 year old mother: great hospitality, friendly staff, fast service, great food (we had wildstoofpotje and fish of the day), easy access toilets, place was packed (reservation recommended). 68 Euro for 2 rich main dishes, 3 soft drinks, a latte macchiato and a cappuccino. We’ll be back!

Great place for a lunch. They had a fair amount of choices in the menu and the food was good. Temperature inside was a little on the warm side, but it was a hot day. Great atmosphere and even better surroundings.

A lovely old hotel with good service and great restaurant. The quality of the dinner was very good but the staff that evening still needs to work some more to live up to the same quality. All rooms are equipped with a steam sauna. A great way to end a romantic dinner and evening. Will defenately come back!

This was a great hotel in a nice location although the only downside was that it is along a road and when it was quiet in the hotel (at night) cars could be clearly heard. The rooms very really good, they were clean, with a TV and great shower facilities. The showers had different coloured lights and doubled as a steam room. The staff in this hotel were also very friendly. The one downside was that the beds weren't very comfortable. Aside from that, a good hotel.

After not been here for a while I was reminded why not when I visited de Zwarte Boer recently. It is a nice place and has loads of character and the location is excellent. However, the staff seems to have lost their basic understanding of service. If they ever had it... They are doing their best to ignore customers and when they do show up it seems the do so with utter dismay. It is arrogant and all of them seem to think the customers have gone deaf since they raise their voice to a level that is close to shouting.||Al responses are as short as possible and extremely familiar. The overall sense is that the customers are there for them. It's too bad because it is a really nice place and it deserves good service. But I am afraid that won't happen since this strange behaviour of the staff has been a feature since years now. Most people accept it. I don't know why really. Maybe they like being told off by their waiter. Maybe I am oversensitive and you should check it our for yourself. Good luck !

My husband and I spend a few days in hotel De Zwarte Boer. It is so lovely, so beautiful with special rooms with a steamcabine/shower, electric beds and a flat TV. They have only 8 rooms and each room has its own character. So they have a winter room, an autumn, a spring,and a summer of course. They even have an appartment to stay in.||The restaurant is more than outstanding. We love to let the chief surprises us. So we take the surprise menu with a wine arrangement. So you have the best of all. The hotel has a beautiful terrace as well with heaters. ||The hotel is situated in one of the most beautiful parst of the Netherlands, the Veluwe. You can walk here or make trips with a bike or make a trip in a carriage and horse. ||We will come back, that is for sure.
